Coming Soon: What Changes Are in View for 2018

In 2017, we took some huge leaps of faith, which paid off in a big way! With 2018 just around the corner, we have no intentions of slowing down.

If you read my post last week, you will know that I was struggling with the choice of what to get myself for Christmas. I had such great feedback, with so many useful suggestions. Thank-you!

Of all the suggestions, I decided to invest in myself in the most meaningful way I could conceive. I am going to be spending the next few months learning everything I can about blogging. I will be learning all the ways that I can better serve you, my readers, and continue finding fulfillment in this endeavor for myself.

No longer will I stay still, I’m venturing out to see what I can accomplish.

What Is Going to Change

I will be working to automate many of the aspects of the blog, email and social media to start with. This does not mean that it will no longer be my voice, just that I will be getting help with the organization and scheduling of these.

I will be working to monetize my blog, which will enable me to contribute to our travel funds. Also, I will be investing some back into the blog to help make it even better. I have selected some online courses to help me learn how to do this in the best ways possible.

So what does this mean for you, as my reader? It means more real value. It means recommendations and reviews of products and services that I have personal experience with. I will get a small commission from them, but at no extra expense to you. I am also creating some products that will help fill voids that I have found in my own research.

I have no intention of turning my blog-baby into a wasteland of solicitations, begging for a pittance of your charity. I promise to never recommend anything that I do not love. With the exception of products or services that fit our needs the best, in spite of their short-comings. When I do this, I will let you know what I did not love about them, and you can decide if they are still worth it to you.

Some things need no change, just natural progression.

What Will Stay the Same

I will, of course, continue to write, blogging about our experiences, our island, and the things we learn throughout the year. We have some fun trips and adventures planned for 2018 and I can not wait to tell you all about them!

I have had a few requests for topics of interest. Let me know if there is anything you are looking for or curious about. I will do my best to share what I know, researching when necessary and inviting guest bloggers when applicable.

I have really grown to love this outlet for sharing knowledge and stretching my ever-growing creative muscles. I appreciate the connections I have made since beginning my blogging journey. I appreciate the interaction through the comments here and through the many social media platforms. I will be experimenting with the things I learn, so don’t be surprised if you see changes. Let me know what you like and what you don’t like. Together, we can learn how best to travel outside-the-box.

With 2017 almost behind us, what are you going to do with 2018?

The first step to getting somewhere is to decide you’re not going to stay where you are.” -John Pierpont “J.P.” Morgan

  1. Yes! I am planning to set some concrete goals for my blog and get into a schedule with writing, sharing and updating old posts. Curious what courses you are taking!

    1. I’m glad to hear that you’re prioritizing travel. It’s so easy to spend money on other things, and when it comes time to make purchases like flights, we can chicken out from price-tag shock. I’m happy to have you following along. Please let me know if there are any particular topics that you’d like to read about, and I’ll see what I can do to help.

  2. It’s nice to see your strong focus and willingness to make changes this year. At the same time, you are right about understanding that not everything will and can change. Best wishes for 2018. Cheers!!
